Driving Mum

February 14 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
£5.00

Hilmar Oddson   |   113 min   |   Iceland, Estonia   |   2022   Fiction  | 12A

A drive through a barren and often fog-shrouded landscape in an award-winning and visionary drama that, with quirky humor, tells the story of a middle-aged man’s coming to terms with his life.

The year is 1980 and somewhere on a remote coastal strip in northwestern Iceland, Jon lives with his resolute old mother. When she dies, he immediately acts on her wish to be buried in his childhood village of Eyrarbakki on the southern coast. With his mother’s body in the back seat and with the dog Brezhnev by his side, he sets out on a car journey that will develop into something completely different from what he imagined. With its unique and low-key humorous tone, the past is woven together with the present in director Hilmar Oddsson’s visually impressive Driving Mum, which shares narrative kinship with Ingmar Bergman’s Wild Strawberries.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the film starts at 8pm.
